Peddapalli: Four sand tractors got stuck in the Manair river near Oded of Mutharam mandal. The tractors, which were driven to the river to transport sand, got submerged as water levels in the river rose suddenly following the increase in discharge of water from Lower Manair Dam (LMD).
The vehicle drivers climbed onto the vehicles and raised the alarm, seeking help. Upon learning about the incident, police rushed to the spot and rescued the drivers.
Discharge of water from LMD was increased following heavy inflows into the reservoir. The officials, who had lifted four floodgates earlier, lifted ten gates on Thursday night.
While the project is receiving an inflow of 30,500 cusecs, 38,800 cusecs is currently being discharged.
