Hyderabad: In a timely response, authorities managed to clear traffic and avert any major accident and traffic jam, when a fuel tanker overturned at the busy Secunderabad-Tarnaka main road near Rail Nilayam, Mettuguda on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place when the driver was negotiating the turn near the junction. Due to the accident, which occurred at around 12.30 pm on Monday, diesel from the fuel tanker started to leak.
To prevent motorists coming on that route from skidding and eventually causing a major traffic jam, in a meticulously planned operation, the law and order police officials decided to lift the tanker with the help of a crane.
In a coordinated effort between traffic authorities and police officials, the fuel tanker with the help of the crane was straightened and enough space was created for the traffic to resume.
Authorities, including the Fire department personnel, quickly made arrangements to bring sand and spread it over the road, where the oil had spilled from the tanker. Meanwhile, during the rescue operations, the traffic authorities diverted the traffic temporarily.
A case has been booked against the driver who is absconding.
