Karimnagar: District Collector RV Karnan informed that the by-elections to Huzurabad Assembly constituency will be held in a peaceful manner by following Covid norms. A separate officer would also be appointed to ensure strict adherence to Covid protocol. Only officials, who received two doses of Covid vaccine, would be deployed in the election duties.

Besides contestant candidates, polling and counting agents of candidates and political parties must take a double dose of vaccine. Medical teams would also be deployed at polling stations. In the wake of by-polls, the vaccination process has been taken up on fast track mode in Huzurabad. So far, the first dose was administered to 75 percent people, 50 percent people got two doses.

Disclosing details about schedule to media persons here on Tuesday, Karnan said as per the ECI guidelines, rallies have been banned while filing nomination papers by the candidates. Since the election code came into existence from Tuesday itself, contestant candidates and political parties must take prior permission from the authorities to take out rallies, conduct meetings and other programmes. The Huzurabad Revenue Divisional Officer will be the returning officer for by-elections and will release the notification on October 1. Flying squads, static teams, surveillance teams, and video capturing teams would also be deployed.

Five mandals including Veenavanka, Illanthakunta, Jammikunta, Huzurabad of Karimangar district and Kamalapur of Warangal Urban district, fall under Huzurabad constituency. All the mandals would be under the control of Karimnagar district administration during the poll period. The electoral rolls for the Assembly constituencies as on January 1, 2021, will be used for these by-elections.

Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said that ECI has given clear instructions on indoor and outdoor meetings as well as vehicle rallies organised by political parties. It also issued strict guidelines to thwart any poll-related violence. Informing that they have started enforcement of model code, the CP said habitual criminals, rowdy sheeters were already bind-over. Besides establishing control rooms, quick response teams would also be deployed.

Additional DCP (law and order) S Srinivas would look after enforcement issues. Police suffering from chronic disease would be kept away from election duties. Services of only double dose vaccinated cops would be utilized.
