Hyderabad: Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi chairperson and daughter of balladeer Gaddar, Vennela, strongly condemned Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s remarks questioning whether Telangana was anyone’s “jagir” (fiefdom).
Stating that the people of Telangana respect Pawan Kalyan as an actor and as an admirer of Gaddar, Vennela said his comments on Telangana Formation Day were unacceptable and hurt the sentiments of those who fought for statehood. She asserted that Telangana was not achieved through political lobbying but through decades of struggle and sacrifice by thousands of people.
Describing the Telangana movement as a fight for self-respect, she recalled the sacrifices made by students, youth and activists, including Telangana martyr Srikantha Chari. Vennela said the Telangana movement was also a cultural struggle carried forward through songs, speeches and grassroots mobilisation across villages.
Emphasising the slogan of self-rule and ownership over the region’s resources, she declared that Telangana belonged to the people who fought for it.
“Telangana is our fathers’ fiefdom, and it will be our children’s fiefdom as well,” she said.
