Jogulamba Gadwal: Differences among Congress leaders in Jogulamba Gadwal district came to the fore on Monday after former ZP Chairperson Saritha Tirupathaiah walked out of an official programme, alleging a protocol violation.
The programme was held to lay the foundation stone for HAM road development works in the district. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and other senior leaders attended the event.
The foundation stone plaque carried the names of several leaders, including local MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy. However, Saritha Tirupathaiah’s name was omitted.
Upset over the omission, Saritha Tirupathaiah and her supporters objected to the officials and party leaders. She later walked out of the programme along with her supporters, according to reports.
Despite attempts by other Congress leaders to persuade her to stay, she refused to return to the event.
Congress leaders embarrassed
Earlier, Congress leaders faced an embarrassing situation during a public meeting in Dharoor when women said they had not received benefits under the party’s six guarantees.
Before the R&B Minister arrived on the stage, artists performed to entertain the gathering. During the programme, one of the artists asked the audience whether they were receiving benefits under the six guarantees. The women responded in unison that the guarantees were not being implemented and that they had not received any benefits. Many even tried to walk out of the public meeting, but the organisers convinced them to remain seated.
