Hyderabad: Gadwal Weavers Society has opened its new saree store near Peddamma Temple, Road No 55, Jubilee Hills, which was launched by television anchor Suma Kanakala and Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav, along with Ram Gopal Agarwal and Akash Agarwal.

Established in 1986 by Ram Gopal, the society has been dedicated for nearly four decades to safeguarding the renowned Gadwal weaving tradition and promoting diverse handloom crafts from across India.

Traditionally, Gadwal sarees were woven exclusively from pure cotton. Over the years, in response to evolving customer preferences, the society has successfully introduced silk-cotton Gadwal sarees and pure silk Gadwal sarees, while maintaining the authenticity and craftsmanship that define the brand.

Ram Gopal Agarwal said the society was founded with the objective of providing sustainable livelihoods and financial stability to handloom weavers during a period when the sector faced significant challenges.

Akash Agarwal highlighted the distinctive craftsmanship of Gadwal sarees, particularly the traditional interlocking technique used to seamlessly join separately woven bodies and borders.
