Hyderabad: While the property owners whose properties are to be affected as part of land acquisition for the Gandhi Sarovar Project continue to strongly oppose the move and civilian organisations continue their protests, the state government is going ahead with its efforts to acquire land.
A fresh notice served by the Rajendranagar Revenue Divisional Officer-cum-Land Acquisition Officer for the Gandhi Sarovar Project linked to the Musi Riverfront Development ended up creating panic among property owners in Keerthi Richmond Villas, Sun City in Bandlaguda in Rajendranagar.
The RDO served a notice to Indra Prakash, President, Keerthi Richmond Villas Owners Welfare Association, based on an objection raised by Prakash on 21/02/2026.
“Notice is hereby given for an enquiry to be conducted for giving an opportunity of being heard to you, fixed on May 6 at 11 am in the chambers of the Rajendranagar Divisional Officer, to present the claim, contention and objection on the proposed acquisition of the scheduled land,” the notice stated.
Around 40 luxurious villas in Keerthi Richmond Villas are likely to be affected due to land acquisition. “Before 2012, villas were built when the buffer zone was 30 metres and later it was extended up to 50 metres. In this case, the properties in this area will get affected as part of the land acquisition for the Gandhi project,” B Sarath Babu, one of the villa owners, told Telangana Today.
Four months ago, the Rajendranagar RDO and other officials faced ire from the property owners when they tried to hold a Grama Sabha to acquire the land for the project.
