Ganesh idol adorned with Rs 1.10 crore in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: Showing devotion in a rather extravagant manner, the organisers of a Ganesh mandapam in the district decorated a Ganesh idol with currency notes much to the amazement of devotees.
The Kapu Sangham Ganesh Utsav Committee which set up a Ganesh mandapam at Ambedkar centre at Paloncha has adorned the idol with currency notes worth Rs 1.10 crore. The organisers used brand new cash with denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100 to carefully make floral designs. The cash was contributed by the committee members.
The floral designs were placed all over the mandapam besides adorning the deity with a massive garland.
The committee head NP Naidu told the media that the decoration was done on Friday which was considered an auspicious day to perform Lakshmi pooja and the decoration was removed on Saturday.
Naidu informed that the committee has been celebrating Ganesh Navaratri by installing an Ganesh idol at Ambedkar centre for the last 28 years.
Previous year they decorated the mandapam with currency worth Rs 1 crore and this year the amount was increased adding Rs.10 lakh more. A huge number of devotees visited the mandapam to witness the spectacle and took selfies.
A devotee K Satyanarayana of Dammapet centre said he visited the Ganesh mandapam along with his family and they were delighted to see Lord Ganesh decorated with currency notes.
