Hyderabad: The immersion of Ganesh idols concluded on Monday evening with devotees bidding goodbye to the remover of obstacles one last time this year. The Ganesh idols were immersed in 33 lakes and 28 artificial ponds located in different parts of the city.
Hussain Sagar, Saroornagar Lake and the Pragathi Nagar Lake at Kukatpally were some of the water bodies where scores of devotees representing various Ganesh pandals immersed the idols.
Rains and inordinate delays failed to deter the enthusiasm and spirit of devotees, who patiently waited for their turn at the Hussain Sagar to immerse the idols. Pandal organisers and devotees at the water bodies were dressed in their traditional attire and continued to dance to the tune of the brass bands, chanting Jai Jai Ganesha, Ganapati Bappa Moriya and Ganesh Maharaj Ki Jai.
At Hussain Sagar, most of the Ganesh idols were immersed on the side of NTR Marg, PVNR Marg and Sanjeevaiah Park while the Tank Bund main road was cleared for commuters and Ganesh pandal organisers with smaller idols.
On NTR Marg, heavy vehicles with Ganesh idols lined up on one side of the road and waited for their turn. Apart from Ganesh pandal organisers, families were also spotted at the lakes and artificial ponds, immersing the Ganesh idols.
