Sangareddy: Excise task force officials seized 122 kg of dry ganja and arrested two alleged peddlers near Cheriyal Gate on NH-65 in Kandi mandal on Monday.
The accused were identified as Abdul Wahab Sayyed (59) and Umakanth Sabhar (37). Officials said the duo was transporting the contraband from the Andhra–Odisha border to Beed district in Maharashtra using two separate cars.
Acting on a tip-off, the task force intercepted the vehicles and, on inspection, found packets of ganja concealed in secret chambers beneath the floor mats. One car carried 53.3 kg, while the other had 69.5 kg.
According to officials, the accused were operating under the directions of a kingpin identified as Chacha, a native of Beed district. A manhunt has been launched to trace and arrest him.
