Kothagudem: Six persons, including a woman, were arrested and 70 kilograms of ganja was seized at Bhadrachalam in the district on Friday.
Inspector of Police T Swamy informed that SI, S Madhu Prasad and staff conducted vehicle inspections at the local forest check post and found the presence of illicit marijuana in two auto rickshaws and one moped.
Five men and a woman travelling in the vehicles were taken into custody and they were identified as K Rama Rao, Mooti Swamy and GB Shyam Sundar of Yellandu, Chikati Lakshmi and K Naveen of Burgampahad and R Rajesh of Bhadrachalam in the district.
The cannabis found in their possession was worth around Rs 14 lakh. They said the cannabis was being smuggled from Valasagadda village in Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra.
