Ganja worth Rs 2.36 crore seized in Jangaon

Warangal: In a major breakthrough, the Commissioner’s Task Force sleuths along with Lingala Ghanpur police arrested two marijuana peddlers and seized a whopping 1,577 kg of dry ganja with an estimated worth Rs 2,36,55,000 (Rs 1,5000 per kg) after intercepting a van (AP-28-TD-0483) at Nellutla crossroad in Jangaon district under Warangal Police Commissionerate jurisdiction on Tuesday, the police said on Wednesday.
The ganja was being transported from Sileru of the Andhra Odisha Border (AOB) area to Hyderabad.
The accused were identified as Adhula Prabhakar Reddy of Pebberu village, Kollapur mandal in Mahaboobnagar district, who is presently living at Shapur, Jeedimetla of Hyderabad, and Natekar Mahesh of Yadhgir of Chappetla Katikashapur of Karnataka State who is presently staying at Borabanda, Hyderabad. Both of them have been working as temporary drivers.
During the interrogation, the duo has reputedly revealed that two persons, John and Khaja of Hyderabad, had engaged them as drivers to transport ganja from Sileru area to Hyderabad and agreed to pay Rs 30,000 each. As part of the deal, John and Kaja handed over the DCM van owned by one Mallikarjun of Jeedimetla and instructed them to proceed to Rajahmundry. When they reached Rajahmundry along with DCM, John received them and introduced one Krishna of Sileru village near Odisha border.
The above said Krishna escorted them to Amalapuram and got loaded their vehicle with coco peat compost bags 123 from there they went to the unknown place which is 70 km away from Sileru, there they met one Sanyasi Rao, father of Krishna. Both Sanyasi Rao and Krishna got loaded 56 plastic bags consisting of 2 kg dry ganja packets wrapped with brown colour adhesive tape, weighing about 1,577 kg in the vehicle and systematically loaded with coco peat compost bags over the ganja bags in order to conceal ganja. Sanyasi Rao and his son Krishna handed over the GST papers to the drivers to show them if any government officials stops at the check post and during vehicle checking.
They have reportedly assured the drivers that they would take responsibility for free passage of three check posts i.e Donkarai, Mothugudem and Chintoor up to Bhadrachalam area and gave one mobile phone to the drivers to contact further in case of any emergency and instructed them to take the ganja loaded vehicle to Hyderabad and hand over to one Syed Khaja of Jeedimetla, Hyderabad in order to transport the same substance to Maharashtra.
Though they had passed their vehicle through the above three check posts without any checking, the police stopped the vehicle when it reached Nellutla X Road, and apprehended them. Five other accused in the case Krishna, Sanyasi Rao, Syed Khaja, John and Miller Mallikharjun are absconding, according to the police.
