Six members of inter-State cattle transportation gang arrested in Adilabad

Adilabad police arrested six members of an inter-State gang accused of illegal cattle transportation and attempting to murder a toll plaza staffer in Neradigonda. Police seized 47 cows, a truck and ganja, while three other accused persons remained absconding.

Adilabad: Six members of an inter-State gang were arrested on charges of illegal cattle transportation and attempting to murder a toll plaza staffer in Neradigonda on Friday. Police seized 47 cows, a truck and ganja from the six. Three more accused persons were still absconding.

In a statement, Echoda Rural Inspector Ramesh said that Md Shafi and Gopal Singh Shekhawat, both from Thatiguda, and Firdose, Mohd Hyder Ali, Bheemrao Sevatkar and Sandeep Muppidiwar, the four from Nagpur, were apprehended for their role in transporting cattle and trying to kill a staffer at the toll plaza at Rolmamada. Mohd Mazar, Raju and Jagadish were still at large.

During interrogation, they confessed to shifting the cattle in a container from Nagpur to Satara in Maharashtra using a jeep as a pilot vehicle. They revealed that they fled after hitting dividers and attacking the toll plaza staffer after the latter tried to stop the vehicle on September 1.
