Hyderabad: Tragedy struck when a gas cylinder exploded, leading to the collapse of a building, reportedly killing one person and injuring three others at the market area in Medchal Town on Monday late at night.
As per available information, the explosion occurred at the residence of former MPTC member Murali, which also housed a mobile phone shop and two flower shops. The sudden explosion caused the structure to collapse, sending debris flying across the street. A pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been immediately confirmed, was injured when the debris fell on him and died.
The impact was so severe that the shutter of a shop located opposite the collapsed building was also damaged.
Among the injured was an elderly woman, Thirupathamma, along with two others identified as Rafiq and Dinesh. They were rushed to a private hospital in Kompally for treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
Medchal police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the explosion and the structural failure that followed. Further details are awaited.
