Karimnagar: TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav on Friday declared that he would developed Huzurabad into one of the best Assembly constituencies in the State if he elected in the October 30 by-election.
Speaking to the media after filing his nomination papers, Srinivas Yadav said: “Having played a vital role in the Statehood movement, I am seeking your (people) blessings. Irrespective of caste or religion, I request you to vote for me and ensure TRS’ victory in the by-poll.”
Srinivas Yadava was accompanied by with TS Planning Commissioner Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar and former Minister E Peddireddy. He handed over his papers to the returning officer in Huzurabad RDO office on the first day of filing of nomination papers for the by-election.
Earlier, Srinivas Yadav performed special puja in Illandakunta Sita Ramaswamy temple and placed his nomination papers before the presiding deity. He said he was grateful to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for giving him an opportunity to contest the by-poll on a TRS ticket.
Later, Vinod Kumar expressed confidence that Srinivas Yadav would win the by-poll with a thumping majority since people of the constituency had already decided that it was necessary to elect a TRS candidate if they wanted development of Huzurabad. Hailing from a poor family and backward class community, Srinivas Yadav pursued higher studies in Osmania University. Being a student leader, Srinivas Yadav played a vital role in the Statehood movement, he said.
Coming down heavily on BJP leader Eatala Rajender, Vinod Kumar said the former had backstabbed the TRS that had given him a political life. “MLAs and other political leaders who tried to weaken the TRS by joining hands with the then Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy are nowhere in politics now. Rajender will also face the same fate in the future,” Vinod Kumar said.
Commenting on the BJP leader’s self-respect mantra, Vinod Kumar said Rajender had so far failed to explain how his self-respect was affected. “Why did Rajender resign from TRS? was it for self-respect? He resigned from the MLA’s post for selfish gains. It was Chandrashekhar Rao who upheld the self-respect of farmers by introducing Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima while the Union government is destroying the agriculture sector by bringing in anti-farmers’ laws,” he said.
The people of Huzurabad elected Rajender as MLA from 2004 to 2018, he said, adding that Rajender, however, backstabbed TRS and joined BJP that was implementing anti-people’s policies. “Huzurabad people will teach a fitting lesson to the BJP leader,” he said.
Stating that the BJP government at the Centre was restricting employment opportunities for SC, ST, OBCs communities by selling LIC, BSNL, Railways and other public sector undertakings, he said the Union government was forcing small farmers to stay away from agriculture by bringing in the new farm laws.
