GeoMap Quiz 2025 finals held in Hyderabad, schools shine in geospatial challenge
The GeoMap Society (GEMS), which has been promoting map-related technologies and publishing GIS India since 1992, organised the GeoMap Quiz 2025 finals at Exhibition Grounds, Hyderabad. Around 2,500 students from 25 schools participated in the preliminary round, with 400 reaching the finals.

Hyderabad: GeoMap Society (GEMS), which has been promoting map-related technologies and publishing GIS India, the country’s first journal on Geographic Information System, since 1992, organised the finals of the GeoMap Quiz 2025 here on Saturday.
About 2,500 students from 25 schools took part in the preliminary round held in November, while nearly 400 students competed in the finals at the Exhibition Grounds.
The quiz featured modules such as MapFun, Map Analytics and Planning, and Skill Tests. Former Surveyor General of India Dr Swarna Subba Rao and ex-NRSC official Dr V Raghavaswamy, who attended as guests, underlined the importance of map education and geospatial technologies.
Maj Shiva Kiran, Secretary of GEMS, stressed the need to inculcate spatial perspective from the school level. Experts including Rakesh Bhatnagar and volunteers Gayathri, Sunandani and Sunethra conducted the sessions.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Vidyaashram), DAV BDL High School, Bhanur and PNM High School emerged winners in different categories, according to a press release.
