Karimnagar: Satavahana University vice-chancellor, Prof S Mallesh called upon the students to getting inspiration from the great personalities such as Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule, BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram and work for the welfare of the society by making changes in their life style. The Vice-Chancellor participated as chief guest in the celebration of Mahaneyula jayanthostavalu organized by SC,ST Cell of Satavahana University in University’s library auditorium here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mallesh said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to take forward the aspirations of social reformists. Delivering the keynote address, former TSPSC chairman Prof Ganta Chakrapani said that every citizen of the country should understand three important issues such as equality, brotherhood and freedom for which Ambekdar dreamt for and strive to build a better society. Informing that that was only the real Indianness, he advised the students to continue their studies by putting above said issues as their goals.
Former Director of Indian Council for Social Science Research, Prof Chennabasavaiah said that great social reformists Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule became Mahatmas as they sacrificed their lives for future generations. He advised the students to adopt Mahatmas’ lifestyles in their education planning.
University Registrar Dr Varaprasad, SC,ST Cell director Dr K Padmavathi, Controller of Examinations Dr NV Sri Ranga Prasad, VC OSD V Ramesh, Principals Dr Jafar Jari (Art College), Dr Jayanthi (Science College) and Dr Manohar (Commerce College), heads of various departments such as Dr Surepalli Sujatha, Dr Srivani, Dr Munavar, Dr Harikanth and others participated in the programme.
