Hyderabad: The State BJP is all set to declare its first list of candidates for the GHMC elections on Wednesday. The party which fast tracked its preparations following the declaration of the election schedule by the State Election Commission, has set up 26 different committees including social media and information technology.

Addressing a press conference here, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said the manifesto committee will concentrate on issues such as drainage, drinking water and roads, which were promised by the State government. “The government must explain to the people of greater Hyderabad what it has done for them in the past six years,” he said.

He alleged that L&T company was demanding Rs 3,500 crore as damages because of the State government’s decision to do away with the Metro line to the old city. “The State government is deliberately delaying full scale functioning of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) by not handing over buildings,” he said.

He said that several leaders from different parties are joining BJP and former Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy will be joining the saffron party on Wednesday. Answering a question on party’s Mayoral candidate, Kishan Reddy said the decision will be taken after the results are declared.
