Hyderabad: Elated at the hike in salaries that came as a Deepavali gift, the sanitation staff of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) held celebrations in different parts of the city on Sunday. The MA&UD Minister, K.T.Rama Rao on Saturday has announced Rs.3,000 enhancement of salaries to the santiation staff.
The workers whose salaries were enhanced today performed ‘Palabhishekam’ to the portraits of Chief Minister and MA&UD Minister in the presence of Minister for Excise and Tourism, Srinivas Goud, Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan and MLA, Muta Gopal, at Indira Park. The workers in different parts of the city also got together for similar celebrations and Palabhishekams.
The Mayor said the Chief Minister having recognized the services of sanitation workers in keeping the city clean and services rendered by them during Covid-19 pandemic and floods has enhanced the salaries of Sanitary Public Health Workers and field level staff from Rs.14,000 to Rs.17,000 and Sanitary Field Assistant and other Public Health Field Assistants including Entomology Field Assistants, from Rs.14,500 to Rs.17,500.
