GHMC to launch 10-day monsoon drive from August 11
The GHMC will launch a 10-day monsoon drive from August 11 to 21 across Hyderabad’s 150 wards, focusing on clearing legacy waste, desilting drains, repairing potholes, installing rainwater harvesting systems, and conducting anti-larval operations to curb dengue.
Hyderabad: The GHMC will conduct a 10-day special monsoon drive across all 150 wards from August 11 to 21, focusing on the complete removal of legacy waste, debris and green waste, desilting of drains, and repair of potholes and catch pits, along with associated town planning, entomology and health activities.
The drive will begin at 6 am each day and GHMC teams will clear municipal solid waste, C&D (Construction and Demolition) and green waste (UBD) dumped at legacy points along roads, nalas, lakes, footpaths and parks.
The engineering teams will carry out pothole filling, repair and flushing of catch pits, replacement of catch pit covers, removal of silt and floating material near culverts, and checks of chain-mesh fencing along nalas as part of public safety measures, a press release said.
The health and entomology field teams will conduct anti-larval operations and fogging across wards, with household visits and awareness activities in localities reporting dengue cases. The drive will include installation of Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) systems, surveys of non-residential buildings, cleaning of parks, and IEC activities on 4-way waste segregation.
