Hyderabad: A GHMC sweeper was among three persons who died in separate road accidents in the city on Thursday.
According to the police, the GHMC sweeper identified as Vara Lakshmi (56), was crossing the road near Shobhana bus stop when a TSRTC bus on its way from Bowenpally to Balanagar hit her. She fell on the road and died, the police said. The police shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital morgue and registered a case against the bus driver.
In another mishap, two teenagers died on the spot after a rashly driven truck went out of control, overturned and fell on their scooter at Shabad mandal in Rangareddy district on the city outskirts late on Wednesday night. Police suspect the truck driver was in an inebriated condition.
The victims were identified as P Pavan (18) from Shabad and M Vikranth (18), both bike mechanics and friends. The incident occurred when the two were proceeding from Sardar Nagar towards Shabad, with Pavan riding the scooter. According to the police, when they reached Sardar Nagar, a truck which was just behind them went out of control and skidded off the road before overturning and falling on them. “Both died on the spot,” a police official said. The truck driver, who too was injured in the mishap, is suspected to have been driving in a rash manner under the influence of alcohol. The Shabad police booked a case.
