GHMC’s Indie puppy adoption drive promotes responsible pet ownership
The GHMC, in partnership with the College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, organised a pet adoption drive on World Veterinary Day. Focused on Indie puppies, the initiative aimed to encourage responsible pet ownership, rehabilitate street dogs, and strengthen rabies prevention measures.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, organised a pet adoption drive focused on Indie puppies at the Veterinary Clinical Complex here on Saturday.
The event was held on the occasion of World Veterinary Day highlighting the role of veterinarians in animal health, zoonotic disease control, and community welfare.
The GHMC organised the pet adoption drive to promote responsible pet ownership, support street dog rehabilitation through adoption, and strengthen rabies preventive measures in the city, said an official release.
During the drive, six Indie puppies were placed in screened homes. GHMC registered 33 pets on site to enable official documentation and future health monitoring, and administered anti-rabies vaccinations to 81 animals as part of rabies control targets under its animal welfare and cure-oriented programmes.
