Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) annual budget of Rs 6,150 crore for the financial year 2022-23 was approved by the civic body’s standing committee on Wednesday.
The GHMC has increased its budget by Rs 550 crore compared to the previous year, the 2021-22 budget allocation being Rs 5,600 crore.
The Revised Budget Estimate for 2021-22 has been increased to Rs 6,300 crore and the RBE has also been approved. Out of the Rs 6,150 crore budget, capital expenditure that takes care of sanitation, road infrastructure, drains, greenery, illumination and other developmental works is Rs 3,350 core and the revenue income is Rs 3,434 crore.
In 2022-23 the GHMC plans to raise 1,700 crores through property tax, Rs 1,200 crore through revenue generation activities executed by the town planning wing including granting building permits and Rs 63 crore through trade license fee. The revenue expenditure which includes establishment expenditure, salaries etc is Rs 2,800 crore.
The projects where major spending is proposed include, the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (Rs 248 crore), Strategic Road Development Plan works (Rs 714.49 crore) and Strategic Nala Development Programme (Rs 340 crore).
In addition to the annual budget, five civic works and the proposals to continue meals for Rs 5 through Annapurna canteens were also approved by the committee. The meeting was chaired by Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi in the presence of GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and others.
