Gitanjali Devkul students visit TGPCB lab for environmental monitoring exposure

More than 20 eco-club students of Gitanjali Devkul visited the Telangana Pollution Control Board laboratory in Sanathnagar, where they learnt about water and air quality monitoring, laboratory analysis, pollution-control parameters, and instruments used to assess and control environmental pollution

Hyderabad: More than 20 eco-club students of Gitanjali Devkul, Kukatpally, received practical exposure to the role of environmental laboratories in monitoring pollution and assessing the quality of environmental samples at the Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) laboratory in Sanathnagar on Wednesday.

Students were introduced to the laboratory facilities and the various scientific methods followed by the TGPCB for environmental monitoring. Officials explained how laboratory analysis helps in understanding water quality and identifying different physical and chemical parameters relevant to pollution control.

Project Analyst Jyotsna explained the procedures involved in the analysis of electrical conductivity and Total Suspended Solids (TSS), photometry, and estimation of ions. She also explained the significance of these parameters in assessing water quality and the importance of accurate laboratory analysis in environmental protection and pollution control.

Students were introduced to air quality monitoring instruments, such as gas and ozone analysers. The functioning and significance of scrubbers and Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems commonly used to control particulate and gaseous emissions from industries were also explained.
