Gitanjali Devshala in association with the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) conducted Teacher Chef Competition on May 27, 2021, to encourage the teachers to participate in the event and facilitate the unsung talent. The plethora of delicious dishes that they presented was a feast for the eyes and tickled everyone’s palate.
Being at home did not stop our teachers from putting on an extraordinary presentation as they cooked in the comfort and happiness of their own kitchen, the school said. Teachers came up with creative ideas for the final presentation and the judges were impressed by the participants’ superb utilisation of ingredients and the vibrant display of food.
The rules of the competition were explained to the contestants beforehand, and they presented pictures of their dishes. The teachers displayed a dish card carrying the recipe of their dish. Their performances were judged based on presentation and plating. The teachers were praised by the judges from IIHM and it was indeed a tough decision to decide who was the winner. The sumptuous spread could be summed up with the caption ‘Live life with a little spice.’
Young aspiring chefs
Gitanjali Devshala organised ‘The Young Chef’ competition, a talent hunt, in association with the IIHM on June 6, 2021. When invited to present their best dishes the students were more than eager to try their skills at cooking.
The kids did seem to be professional chefs right from start, and their creative presentations were mind-boggling. They got busy with measuring, weighing, slicing, dicing, peeling, mixing, pouring, stirring, kneading, beating, whisking, and carving, until the dishes they presented looked lip-smacking delicious.
The judges were on the fence about whose dish was best. However, the real winners are the kids themselves who wholeheartedly dived into the competition with the attitude of born champions, and their families who threw themselves totally behind the kids. Such teams are always winners.
