Godavari flows at second warning level at Bhadrachalam
The Godavari river at Bhadrachalam has crossed the second warning level, reaching 50.8 feet with massive inflows. Officials warn of further rise, setting up relief centres and banning boating for safety.
Godavari crossed the second warning level at Bhadrachalam in Kothagudem.
Kothagudem: Water level in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam in the district has been rising steadily and has crossed the second warning level at 48 feet at 10:05 pm on Wednesday.
At 8 am on Thursday the water level is at 50.80 feet with a discharge of 13 lakh cusecs of water. The third warning level is 53 feet. District Collector Jitesh V Patil said the flood in Godavari would continue to rise due to the heavy rains in its upper catchment.
He advised the people in the flood affected villages to be alert. Officials have already set up and would set up more relief centres if necessary. All basic facilities like drinking water, food, medical services and power supply are made available for the people.
Officials of revenue, police, medical, panchayat raj, municipal, electricity and other departments have been monitoring the flooded areas and are ready to provide immediate assistance in case of emergency, Patil said.
Public should not bathe in Godavari under any circumstances and boat trips have been completely prohibited. Control rooms to provide assistance to the people have been set up and the public could contact the following numbers.
