Hyderabad: Creamline Dairy Products Limited that rebranded its Jersey brand as Godrej Jersey a few months ago is looking at expanding its business in Telangana even as it enjoys a prominence in Hyderabad and Telangana.

The Southern India-focused milk and other dairy products brand is looking to expand its UHT milk processing plant in Keshavaram with an overall investment of Rs 20 crore by the end of 2022.

The plant, which currently has a capacity to make 20,000 litres per day, will be expanded to 70,000 litres per day by November or December of this year.

“The production unit is exclusively for making tetra packs which includes our thichshakes, refreshing drinks, and buttermilk, among others. Telangana is a huge market for us contributing to 39 per cent of total company sales. Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh dairy industry is Rs 56,000 crore, as per IMARC. For expanding the plant, we will be looking at investing Rs 20 crore,” said Bhupendra Suri, CEO, Creamline Dairy Products Limited.

The company has partnered with 5,000 farmers in Telangana to supply milk to them on a daily basis with a supply capacity of 50,000 litres per day. It is also betting big on the market here even as bigger players like Amul and local players like Karimnagar Dairy are looking to expand their capacity in the State. Amul recently announced that it will be investing Rs 500 crore in setting up their largest state-of-the-art plant in the State.

“Telangana is an attractive destination for milk and related products and there are many success stories of private players in the State. Buffalo milk is a more preferred product when compared to cow milk, however, in the last few years the share of buffalo milk has reduced when compared to cow milk,” says Suri.

The dairy company grew from Hyderabad to other Southern States and a few cities in Maharashtra, and has over 10 plants and processes about 6.5 lakh to 7 lakh litres per day.
