New Delhi: Gold prices on Tuesday fell by Rs 71 to Rs 48,169 per 10 gram in futures trade as speculators reduced their positions amid low demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for February traded lower by Rs 71, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 48,169 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 8,527 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to trimming of positions by participants.
Globally, gold traded 0.08 per cent higher at USD 1,796.10 an ounce in New York.
