Gold and silver prices rose on Monday, buoyed by global cues and expectations of a US interest rate cut. Bullion gains were supported by a softer dollar, safe-haven demand, while WTI crude rebounded past $60 amid mixed OPEC+ signals.

Gold prices fell for a third consecutive week, pressured by a stronger dollar and fading hopes of a US Fed rate cut. Global economic uncertainty, eased US–China trade tensions, and changes in China’s gold retail policies also impacted bullion demand.

Silver prices surged to an all-time high of ₹1,14,493 per kg amid strong global trends and domestic demand. Gold also gained sharply. Analysts cite economic uncertainty, industrial demand, and safe-haven interest as key drivers behind the rally.

Gold futures on MCX recorded an increase of Rs 779 per 10 grams which is 1.09 per cent above the previous trading session’s closing price of Rs 71,644.

However, silver tumbled Rs 500 to Rs 76,500 per kg. In the previous trade, it had ended at Rs 77,000 per kg.

In the international markets, both gold and silver were trading higher at USD 1,936 per ounce and USD 23.33 per ounce, respectively.

Gold prices on Wednesday fell by Rs 15 to Rs 59,228 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators reduced their positions.

Gold price rose Rs 79 to Rs 59,345 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on firm spot demand.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to the trimming of positions by participants.

Gold price remained flat at Rs 59,280 per 10 gram in the national capital on Wednesday, according to HDFC Securities.

The consecutive days of declining gold price have taken many buyers by surprise, given the traditional preference for gold jewellery.

The gold rate for 24-carat (10 grams) was Rs 50,290 on Friday. On Thursday it was costing Rs 50,950. There was a sharp decline of Rs 660.

In the international market, gold was trading marginally higher at USD 1,893 per ounce and silver was flat at USD 27.65 per ounce.
