Hyderabad: Shraddha Srinath loves to do films in any language provided she gets convinced with the script. “The stuff should be good, and I am sure I would go for it,” she says. Shraddha went live on Instagram marking her debut day when she was introduced to audiences through the Kannada superhit crime thriller U Turn.
Before landing the project U Turn, she had auditioned for Kannada romantic drama film Mungaru Male 2 and got rejected. “I auditioned for a bunch of Hindi films and got rejected. Also did a bunch of commercials for Ola, Vodafone,” the Jersey actor said.
“In a creative field like cinema, when someone asks you ‘what’s next’ it’s like asking someone who just got married ‘so when you are having babies?’ It can push someone into anxiety, because there isn’t anything to do next.”
Talking about the photo shoot that went viral, the actor said, “‘Coming Out’ — the photo shoot is about two lesbian lovers and how they chose to come out. The work from Arjun Kamath really went viral. It is one of my first skirmishes with fame, just watching my work go instantly viral was an amazing experience.”
To a query from her fan, ‘Why do you want to become an actor?’, she replied, “Acting was the only thing that I found myself good at. I am kind of inconsistent at everything else, average at most other things; acting was the only thing I was passionate about. So, I followed it through, and found a platform to perform plays. Later, I auditioned for films.”
Disclosing some of her diet secrets, Shraddha says she keeps track of her calories. “I focus on consuming a lot of fibre. You can use a calorie tracking app. I am a vegetarian now. I don’t consume eggs, I consume plant protein instead. It’s great,” she shares.
“Before joining the industry, people told me that no one would cast me if I continued giving auditions with short hair. Thanks, I still have short hair, I am doing okay, thank you very much,” she says.
Describing the current scenario, the actor said it is just an unexplainable situation that we’re currently going through. “So sneaky, unexplainable cases, doctors overburdened, pandemic should end for the medical fraternity. Thank them if you know any doctor. Such a weird time, we’ve seen death from so close. This is something that came as a lesson. Stay safe and stay home,” she added.
And Shraddha is quite bored being indoors. Ask her what she is up to, “These days, I am attending yoga classes online, sweeping and mopping, making dal, curry, helping mom,” she laughs, adding “I am ready to be an adult slightly.”
