Peddpally: Rail traffic between Delhi and Chennai was affected after a goods train derailed near Raghavapur railway station in Palakurthy mandal here late on Tuesday night.
Several express and good trains have been halted following the derailment of six rakes of the goods train transporting iron coils from Ghaziabad towards Kazipet junction.
The derailed rakes have been scattered over three tracks affecting the movement of trains on this route. The Tamilnadu Sampark Kranthi express has been halted in Peddapally station.
Several superfast and express trains are being diverted via other routes or halted in some stations following the mishap. Railway authorities were said to have rushed to the accident site.
The South Central Railway has said that helpline numbers are being provided for the benefit of any passengers.
