Bokaro: A wagon of a goods train derailed after it collided with a car at a level crossing in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Sunday, officials said.

According to officials, the accident occurred near the over-bridge within the Bokaro Thermal police station (BTPS) limits, when the goods train was coming out from the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) power plant, they said.

Officer in charge of the BTPS Pinku Kumar said that one wagon of the goods train derailed, and no one was injured in this accident. Further investigation is underway.

“The accident occurred when the train was rolling back after unloading coal at the plant. At that time, the level crossing gate was open, and a vehicle was crossing it. The train hit the car and dragged it for some distance before halting,” said Akhilesh Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Dhanbad Division.
The driver of the car is safe, and railway officials have rushed to the site to ascertain the cause of the accident, he said.
