Hyderabad: Google is making its Search platform more proactive and personalized with an upgraded AI Mode, which now offers agentic capabilities to help users complete tasks such as booking restaurant reservations and, soon, service appointments and event tickets.
Rolling out first to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S., the feature leverages Project Mariner’s live web browsing, Search integrations, and Google Maps data to streamline complex tasks. For instance, users can request dinner reservations based on multiple preferences — party size, cuisine, time, and location — and AI Mode will scan reservation platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, and Tock to present real-time availability, linking directly to booking pages.
The update also introduces personalized recommendations in dining searches. By drawing from previous interactions and user preferences in Search and Maps, AI Mode tailors results to individual tastes, such as plant-based menus or outdoor seating options. Users remain in control of their personalization settings through their Google Account.
Another new feature is link sharing, allowing users to collaborate with friends and family directly within AI Mode responses. Shared links enable recipients to ask follow-up questions and continue exploring — useful for planning trips or events.
Google is also expanding AI Mode to 180+ new countries and territories in English, in addition to its existing availability in the U.S., India, and the UK. The company said the feedback shows strong adoption of AI Mode for handling longer and more complex queries, with plans to broaden access to more languages and regions soon.
