Google expands Circle to Search with AI Mode and gaming assistance on Android
Google has expanded Circle to Search to over 300 million Android devices, now enhanced with AI Mode for deeper topic exploration and real-time gaming support. Users can get contextual insights and help without leaving their app, using the updated AI Overview feature.
Hyderabad: Google has rolled out major enhancements to its Circle to Search feature, expanding its availability to over 300 million Android devices and introducing AI Mode — a powerful new tool for deeper contextual exploration and real-time gaming help.
Launched last year, Circle to Search allows users to circle, highlight, or tap on-screen elements to receive instant AI-generated information without switching apps. Now, with the integration of AI Mode, users can ask follow-up questions, explore multimodal content, and receive enhanced insights with AI Overviews directly within their search interface.
AI Mode: Explore topics more deeply without leaving your app
To activate the feature, users can long press the home button or navigation bar, then circle or tap anything on screen. When relevant, AI Overviews will appear at the top of search results. A new option, “Dive deeper with AI Mode,” allows users to ask additional questions and browse related information across the web.
The AI Mode functionality is also available via Google Lens in the Google app for both Android and iOS. It is currently accessible to users in the U.S. and India.
Gaming assistance in real time
Google is extending Circle to Search to help mobile gamers with on-the-spot support. Players can now identify characters, find strategies, and watch suggested videos without leaving their game screen. The feature is designed to offer AI Overviews within the gameplay experience — keeping the momentum going without switching apps.
Smarter AI Overviews for better understanding
Building on Gemini model advancements, Google has upgraded AI Overviews to provide easier-to-read, visually enriched answers. These updates are designed to make complex topics more digestible by breaking down key information and including contextual visuals directly in the search results.
“Whether you’re gaming, translating in real time, or researching a topic, Circle to Search with AI Mode brings deeper insights without disruption,” Google said.
The feature is part of Google’s broader vision of contextual, on-screen intelligence, blending AI with visual understanding to enhance productivity and learning on the go.
