Hyderabad: Google is bringing more powerful artificial intelligence capabilities to its Search platform by integrating its advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model into AI Mode. The upgrade, rolling out first in the United States, introduces deep research functionality and even AI-powered phone calls to local businesses.
Subscribers of Google’s AI Pro and AI Ultra plans can now choose Gemini 2.5 Pro from a drop-down menu within the AI Mode tab in Search. While the default model provides fast, general-purpose assistance, Gemini 2.5 Pro is designed to handle complex reasoning, math, and coding queries with enhanced depth and accuracy.
One of the key additions is Deep Search, a new research tool that leverages Gemini 2.5 Pro to conduct hundreds of searches simultaneously. It synthesizes scattered information into a comprehensive, fully cited report—especially useful for users involved in academic research, job-related inquiries, or major life decisions like home purchases or financial planning.
Another feature being introduced is AI-powered calling. Users in the U.S. can now ask Google Search to contact local businesses—such as pet groomers or dry cleaners—on their behalf to obtain pricing and availability information. The results are presented in a consolidated format, making comparison and decision-making easier.
This new capability is being rolled out to all Search users in the U.S., with higher usage limits available to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. Businesses retain full control of interactions via their Google Business Profile settings.
Google says it will continue to roll out cutting-edge AI features to premium subscribers first, while gradually expanding access globally.
