Hyderabad: Demanding the restoration of the Old Pension System (OPS) and abolition of the Contributory Pension System (CPS), government employees across Telangana have held protests and rallies on Monday.

The OPS was abolished and CPS introduced nationwide on September 1, 2004.

Telangana Government Employees’ Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC) Secretary General E Srinivasa Rao urged the Congress to fulfil its promise made to government employees and reminded the party, in its manifesto, had assured the implementation of OPS after coming to power in Telangana.

The OPS had already been restored in four States and Congress government in Telangana should take steps to implement it , the protestors demanded. Employees from various departments also staged demonstrations inside the Secretariat.
