Khammam: Government hospitals in Telangana were offering quality health services on par with the corporate hospitals, thanks to the efforts put in by the State government, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said on Sunday.
He said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao wanted the public health facilities in the State to serve as the lifeline for the poor by providing the best treatment to them. Ajay Kumar called on Additional Collector, Snehalatha Mogili, who delivered a girl child at Maternal and Child Health (MCH) wing at the Government District Hospital.
It might be noted that the Additional Collector was admitted to the District Hospital and on Friday delivered the child. Speaking on the occasion the minister lauded Snehalatha, her husband, Manugur ASP, Dr. Shabarish P for choosing the government hospital for delivery.
The decision of the officials elevated respect for government hospitals among the common people and Snehalatha and Shabarish have left an example for people from all walks of life, Ajay Kumar said. He carried the newborn child in his hands and congratulated the couple.
Ajay Kumar recalled that Khammam District Hospital received Kayakalp award three times and secured a place in the list of top performing District Hospitals in the country as per a recent performance assessment report released 30 by NITI Aayog.
ZP Chairman L Kamalraj, Mayor Punukollu Neeraja , Agriculture Market Committee Chairperson D Lakshmi Prasanna, DM&HO Dr, Malathi, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, corporator Dorepally Shwetha and others accompanied the minister.
