Hyderabad: BJP MLA Eatala Rajender took strong exception to the remarks made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao blaming the Centre over paddy procurement. Addressing a press conference, the BJP MLA said the State never faced this type of situation earlier. “In case of any problem to the farmers’ community, the previous State governments used to convene a meeting with all parties and discuss the issue with them to find a suitable solution. But nothing concrete is happing now,” he said.

He asked the State government to come to the rescue of farmers, who are spending sleepless nights at the procurement centres for the last 40 days. He said the ruling party organised maha dharna to divert the attention of people from by-election result in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency.

The BJP MLA claimed that the Central government was bearing all the expenses including transport and hamali charges for smooth conduct of the procurement process. He demanded the State government pay its State’s share in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana scheme for the benefit of farmers. Rajender said the ongoing issue could be sorted out amicably and added that a comprehensive policy should be adopted for the agriculture sector.
