Govt employee ends life in Karimnagar after naming police, wife in selfie video
Kadari Sravan Kumar, a Karimnagar revenue employee, died after a suicide attempt. In a selfie video, he named his wife, in-laws, and a woman police officer, alleging harassment. His family is demanding legal action. Police have launched an investigation.
Karimnagar: Kadari Sravan Kumar (35), who made suicide attempt by consuming pesticides a week ago, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Karimnagar on Sunday.
A record assistant in revenue department in Karimnagar, Sravan Kumar took an extreme step unable to tolerate torture by police, in-laws and a few others.
In a selfie video recorded by him before consuming pesticides, the deceased person held responsible women police station CI, his wife, mother-in-law, Naveen, Praveen and Prasanna for his death.
According to the deceased’s sister Vanaja, police harassed Sravan Kumar by registering fake cases in connection with family disputes. Unable to tolerate mental torture by police and in-laws, he took an extreme step.
A native of Choppadandi, Sravan Kumar got married to Battula Neelima of Savaran street of Karimnagar town in June, 2021. The couple has a daughter. There was a dispute between wife and husband for some time.
As Neelima approached the police, Sravan Kumar was summoned to the police station for counselling and threatened.
In his selfie video, Sravan Kumar alleged that though he made it clear in the court notice that he was not interested in taking a divorce, police registered a fake case against him by ignoring court notices.
He wanted the police to register a case against his wife, mother-in-law, Naveen, Praveen and Prasanna. He also appealed to the commissioner of police to take action against the persons responsible for his death.
Vanaja also demanded the police to take action against the persons those who responsible for her brother’s suicide.
