Govt spent over Rs 4000 cr for development of Warangal: Errabelli

Warangal Urban: The State government was giving utmost priority to Warangal development and various projects worth Rs 4,126 crore were being executed in the city, Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said on Tuesday.
In the last six years under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), as many as 9,111 works were taken up at a cost of Rs 1,560 crore and of them, around 5,340 works had already been completed creating infrastructure for the citizens of the city, he said.
Dayakar Rao along with Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod, Social Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar, Telangana State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman, B Vinod Kumar and Government Chief Whip, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and MLC, P Rajeshwar Reddy garlanded Telangana Martyrs Memorial marking TRS Formation Day on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said under Mission Bhagiratha drinking water problem in the city was fully solved by spending Rs. 1589 crore and the citizens were getting daily supply of drinking water from Ugadi.
Kakatiya Urban Development Authority has taken up various works at a cost of Rs 173 crore while R&B Department and TRANSCO executed works worth hundreds of crores. Construction of as many as 4417 double bedroom houses was underway in Warangal at a cost of Rs 115 crore.
An amount of Rs 11.6 crore was spent on IT Incubator Centre development in Warangal and an IT SEZ was being developed on 45 acres of land near the city, Dayakar Rao explained adding that Textile Park would start functioning in six months of time.
Refuting the allegations by Congress leader A Revanth Reddy, the minister said continuous efforts were on for the development of Warangal adding that tenders were called for works worth Rs 250 crore. He demanded the Centre to set up a railway coach factory at Kazipet.
Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and former Dy. Chief Minister, K Srihari who campaigned in various divisions appealed to the voters to support the TRS candidates for an all round development of GWMC.
Meanwhile, at a Brahmana Athmeeya Sammelanam held at MP V Lakshmikantha Rao’s residence here Brahmin community members have extended their support to the TRS in the GWMC elections.
MLC Surabhi Vanidevi, MLA V Sathish Kumar, the community leaders K Sitarama Rao, G Upendra Sharma, V Jaganmohan Sharma and others took part in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion Vanidevi said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was striving for Brahmins welfare by allotting Rs 165 crore to Brahmana Sankshema Parishat.
