Karimnagar: Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar on Sunday said the State government has decided to develop facilities in all government hospitals at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. The Minister was speaking after handing over cheque for Rs 6 lakh pertaining to five months salaries of class IV employees of Jammikunta government hospital on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who was committed to strengthening government hospitals, has decided to improve facilities by spending Rs 4,000 crore. It has also decided to establish super specialty hospitals in different places of Hyderabad as well as Warangal.

Earlier, the condition of hospitals was pathetic and people used to be scared to visit government hospitals. However, the situation has changed after the formation of Telangana State. Medical facilities have been developed in a big way.

Besides Rs 13,000, different items that would help mothers and newborn have been provided under KCR Kit. Apart from taking pregnant women to hospitals, lactation mothers and newborn have been dropped safely in the houses under the Amma Odi programme. As a result, the number of deliveries in government hospitals has increased.

Dialysis centres were also established in district headquarters as well as division centers to help kidney patients, the Minister said.
