Mahabubabad: The authorities of the Fisheries Department are gearing up to release a total of 4.52 crore fishlings in 1,075 tanks in the district this year as all the water bodies in the district were filled with water due to recent rains. The State government is supplying the fish seed free of cost for the benefit of the fishermen community in the State.
While 4.33 crore fishlings were distributed last year, the officials are planning to get 19 lakh additional fishlings this year.
“Tender process for procuring the fishlings has been completed. We are getting ready to release the fish seed soon after consulting the Ministers and local people’s representatives for the formal launch of the programme,” said District Fisheries Officer Bujju Babu.
