Grand procession marks Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary in Hyderabad
Hyderabad witnessed grand celebrations on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A large procession organised by the Sri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maratha Navyuvak Mandal began at Puranapul Darwaza and culminated at Salarjung Bridge, passing through key areas of the old city.

Hyderabad: The birthday celebrations of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, are being held on a grand scale in the city on Thursday.
A big procession from Puranapul Darwaza, to Chhatrapati Shivaji statue, Salarjung Bridge is organised on the occasion by the Sri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maratha Navyuvak Mandal.
Scores of people are participating in the procession that will pass through Puranapul, Jummerat Bazaar, Afzalgunj and reach Salarjung Bridge in the evening where a small public meeting will be organized.
Youngsters dressed as Shivaji Maharaj, sat on horses and participated in the procession that also saw young men raising slogans in praise of the Maratha warrior.
The police made elaborate security arrangements by deploying the Commissioner’s Task Force, Quick Reaction Team and City Armed Reserve personnel.
The traffic police announced traffic diversions in view of the procession in the old city.
