Hyderabad: A green channel to transport donor organs including heart and lungs from Kamineni Hospitals, LB Nagar to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Secunderabad was provided by the Rachakonda traffic police officials here on Tuesday.
Thanks to no traffic obstructions, the ambulance along with the donor organs and organ transplant caregivers covered the distance of 17.6 kilometers between the two hospitals in 15 minutes. The ambulance started at 8.04 am from LB Nagar and reached KIMS Secunderabad at around 8.19 am, authorities said.
The organ donation was performed as part of the state-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative. Senior health officials thanked the authorities for creating a green channel so that the donor organs were transferred without any delay.
