Hyderabad: Telugu television artiste Preeti Nigam along with her husband Nagesh Karra on Monday took part in the Green India Challenge, an initiative started by Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santosh Kumar. Accepting the challenge from actor Sruthi, the telly star planted saplings at Kakatiya Park near Madhapur.
Speaking on the occasion, she emphasised the importance of planting saplings to make the earth green and fight hazards of pollution and deforestation.
“It’s vital to increase the green cover and spread awareness about planting trees among the general public. Keeping in mind the future of the coming generations, it’s our responsibility to plant more and more trees for sustainable living,” Preeti said.
Preeti thanked Santosh Kumar for the initiative as well as inspiring people to take part in it, and nominated three of her colleagues – Delhi Rajeswari, Pushpa and Sumitra Pampani – to continue the chain of planting trees.
