Grocery store owner drowns in Godavari river in Mancherial
A grocery store owner from Ponkal village drowned in the Godavari river while taking a dip at Badampelli in Jannaram mandal on Saturday. Police launched a search to recover the body, which had not been traced till evening
Mancherial: A grocery store owner accidentally drowned in the Godavari river while taking a dip at Badampelli village in Jannaram mandal on Saturday.
Police said Shravan (33) of Ponkal village met a watery grave while taking a dip in a shallow stretch of the river. He reportedly ventured into the water despite not knowing how to swim. Some of his friends, who were on the riverbank, noticed the incident and alerted his parents.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched a search to retrieve the body. However, it had not been traced till evening.
