Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, charging it with repeated attempts to erase the legacy of the Telangana movement. Citing discrepancies in Monday’s TGPSC Group II exam, he said the questions were focused on Andhra Pradesh’s history, and not on Telangana’s history.
In a statement, Harish Rao questioned the Congress government’s motive behind posing questions related to Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party and its president N Chandrababu Naidu in the Group II exam paper conducted on Monday.
“TDP gave a letter to the Pranabh Mukherjee Committee in favour of a separate Telangana State on October 18, 2009; Chandrababu Naidu adopted Adilabad district and developed irrigation projects; Identify and pair the companies of Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Lagadapati Rajgopal, T Subbarami Reddy, and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao – such question raise doubts whether it is TGPSC or APPSC exam,” he stated.
Calling the Congress’s actions a conspiracy, the former Minister warned that erasing Telangana’s history was not just an insult to the movement but to the entire society that fought for it. “Is this the change that you promised – replacing Telangana statehood movement with the Andhra rulers in history?” he asked.
Harish Rao declared that the history of Telangana’s fight for statehood was a signature in time, not mere ink on paper. He said people had recognised and would resist attempts to rewrite the Telangana struggle’s narrative by the Congress government.
