Jeddah: The Telangana NRI community in Arabian Gulf region joined the people of Telangana in mourning the death of former minister and TRS leader Nayini Narsimha Reddy. They said it was his simplicity and humility that endeared him to all. Narismha Reddy who had visited most of the Gulf countries as labour minister had personal contacts with several NRIs in the region.
“We are deeply saddened with the death of Reddy”, said Ch. Hariprasad, President of Telangana Jagruthi Gulf chapter in Bharain and a close friend of late leader’s family. Nayini was serious about bringing reforms in the labour recruitment system and promoted the Telangana government run manpower company in the Gulf, said Gangula Muralidhar Reddy, a Telangana activist based in Kuwait. He recalled Nayini meeting with officials in Kuwait during his visit in 2017. The similar views expressed by the community in Qatar and Saudi Arabia also.
As first home minister and also labour minister of Telangana, Narsimha Reddy seriously attempted to address the middlemen / agent system in recruiting for abroad. In his capacity as chairman of Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) he held wide range meetings with employers in Kuwait, Bahrain, and United Arab Emirates. Unlike other leaders who change their attire in foreign visits, Reddy was sticking to his favourite white dhoti whether in Dubai or New York. He was the only Indian delegate who attended an important conference held in Dubai in 2016 in his traditional attire. His speech, where he discussed the migrant youth issue, had won the praise from all including UAE officials.
