Rajanna-Sircilla: A Class V student, Gottimukkala Suvarna, was injured in a street dog attack on the premises of the Chinnabonala Gurukul on Monday evening.

A native of Adavipadira of Veernapalli mandal, Suvarna was a Class V student in the Chinnabonala girls’ residential school. She had come out of the hostel room to attend to nature’s call in the evening.

While returning, a street dog, which was roaming on the school premises, attacked her. When she raised an alarm, other students rushed the spot and chased the dog away.

School authorities shifted Suvarna to the Sircilla area hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Student unions demanded action against the school watchman and extend support to family members.

Reacting to the incident, BRS working president KT Rama Rao expressed deep concern and said it was a classic example of the negligence of the State government led by A Revanth Reddy.

Gurukuls, which used to be centres for education during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s regime, has now become death traps. Telangana has lost 85 Gurukul students after the Congress came to power, he said.
