Habeebnagar police arrest repeat offenders in gold chain snatching case
Habeebnagar police arrested two habitual offenders for snatching a gold chain from a woman shopkeeper in Seetharambagh. The suspects posed as buyers before fleeing with her mangalsutra. Police recovered 2.6 tolas of gold and Rs 34,100 in cash
Hyderabad: The Habeebnagar police on Monday nabbed two habitual offenders involved in a chain snatching case that took place at Seetharambagh earlier this month.
The suspects – Mohammed Saddam (32), a carpenter from Mallepally, and Upadey Shiva (31), a housekeeping worker at Niloufer Hospital, had posed as customers wanting to buy garlic from the complainant Nagamani’s shop and snatched her gold ‘mangalsutra’.
Police said Saddam, a habitual offender involved in more than 30 property offences across Hyderabad, recently teamed up with Shiva after his release from jail in August.
Gold weighing 2.6 tolas and cash of Rs 34,100 were recovered.
